Stitches of Intention
20 Jun 2026
This workshop explores the relationship between plants, the body, and healing.
Drawing on both traditional knowledge and modern perspectives, the session introduces locally growing medicinal plants, their historical uses, and the beliefs that have surrounded them.
Participants will connect with plants as cultural and symbolic forms engaging their touch, smell, and storytelling.
Create a small embroidered herbal pouch, combining a stitched image of a chosen plant with a simplified motif of a related body organ. These elements form a personal, symbolic composition expressing care, protection, or intention. The process is slow and attentive, encouraging reflection.
Coordinating with our exhibition All This Useless Beauty, this workshop resonates with artist Mellon Taper's themes of memory, inheritance, and the layering of lived experience. Stitches of Intention invites participants to create small, symbolic objects that carry traces of personal and cultural narratives, bridging past knowledge with present-day making.
Agnieszka Wanowicz is a local artist whose practice lies within old folk traditions and connects strongly with nature. She always creates a welcoming and inclusive space, giving participants confidence to create.
