Summer Art Week

We invite 11 - 17 year olds to try a new art activity over 5 days of the summer holidays. All materials and refreshments provided. Select your date and click 'Book Now'.

• Tuesday 20 Aug: Code Red Animation with film maker Izzy Wild
Two sessions: 11 - 1 and 1.30 - 3.30. £5 each
Join a collaborative project to make an animated film about climate change theme. Using a monoprint technique, drawprint in your own style then film your frames. Relaxing, mindful process, chat through your thoughts around the climate crisis.

• Wednesday 21 Aug: Printing in Textiles with Laurel Coxon
Two sessions: 11 - 1 and 1.30 - 3.30. £5 each
Experiment with block printing, hand printing and screen printing – all on textiles, using foil. Bring a T-shirt, pillowcase, any fabric from home to print on (some textiles will also be provided).

• Thursday 22 Aug: Jewellery Making with Nicky Barton
Two sessions: 11 - 1 and 2 - 4. £10 each
Learn how to make silver stacking rings, applying different textures, learning basic silversmithing techniques – measuring, soldering, texturing.

• Friday 23 Aug: Print bonanza with George Barron from Positive Lights Project
11 - 3.30 (inc 30 min lunch break. Please bring packed lunch. £5.
Fun, messy day of print for you to experiment with many different processes, using a flat bed press, type set, lino, collagraph, a giant wheel-chair press too.

• Sat 24 Aug: Camera Obscura in the Garden
Photo Day with Sam White
11 - 3 . Free, donations welcome.
Fun family drop-in workshop. Get inside a huge camera to capture family portraits and make a nature photo to take home.

Summer Art Week is partly funded by THG's Create our Space youth project inspiring young people to visit and be involved with art galleries, funded by Arts Council England.
